A ghastly motor accident has left two people dead in Limbe and a car beyond repairs. The accident took place yesterday at about 2 pm at the Cite Sic junction involving a Toyota Tercel matriculated SW 0775E and a truck loaded with Eru, matriculated CE 548 AK.

The two victims, a certain Victor Wane Tarcissus, identified as a nurse with the Buea Regional Hospital Annex, and his cousin who at press time was simply identified as Fopoussi, a mathematics teacher in Ngaoundere, were returning to Limbe from Nkongsamba.

“Victor Wane Tarcissus is the president of our meeting and he was coming from Nkongsamba where he had a meeting yesterday. We were expecting him at our meeting this afternoon when he called us earlier to inform us that he was on his way and will be with us shortly. We were surprised when we received another call that he was involved in a ghastly motor accident and died on the spot”, a friend of the deceased and a member of the meeting where the late Victor Wane was president, lamented.
Witnesses said he was heading to his house in Site Sic, some 100 metres from the scene of the accident.

According to eyewitnesses, his car was damaged beyond repairs and one of the victims allegedly had both legs completely cut off from his body.

Sources present in front of the mortuary said the only family relative present, was busy inside the mortuary with the mortuary attendants trying to adjust some disjointed parts of the bodies before they could be finally kept pending burial procedures, and so can not give out any information to the press.

The mortuary attendants also refused to talk to the press and denied them access to the corpses.
The driver of the truck is reported to have immediately left the scene of the accident after revealing that the driver of the Toyota was discussing on the phone and paid little attention before negotiating the bend but some eyewitnesses said the truck driver was on high speed and reason why he could not easily stop after seeing the Toyota vehicle taking the bend into the Cite Sic entrance.

The accident has sparked controversy in Limbe inhabitants as some people at the scene of the accident blamed the truck driver whom they accused of speeding and found it difficult to stop.
Others lay the blame on the driver of the Toyota Tercel, whom sources said was seen discussing on the phone and might have neglected the fact that he was about to negotiate a bend.
The two victims are said to hail from Baham in the West Region.
