Prison Fellowship International will on Wednesday 14 July 2010 donate drugs and equipment to the Yaounde Kondengui central prison. The reason for such an action is to accelerate reformation and restore hope in the inmates. Speaking to Eden, Mme Nana Marie Abunaw the Board Chairperson of Prison Fellowship International Cameroon said in order to accelerate socio-economic development, they must provide the prisoners with basic necessities such as sanitation facilities, clothing, medications, food and renovate the prison infrastructures. Meanwhile, a recent donation by Prison Fellowship International took place at the Douala and Buea central prisons respectively with the donations of drugs, computers, clothing and food stuffs to the prisoners. Nana Marie Abunaw also said Prison Fellowship International has programmes like the Angel Tree, a Christmas programme mainly for the prisoners’ children and also to carter for prisoners who are victims of HIV/AIDS. Prison Fellowship International is a philanthropic, apolitical organisation founded in Bamenda, North West region in 1994 by Pastor George Asobo Teneng and Mme Marie Nana Abunaw. It is a non denominational, indigenous movement of people of good faith with a flare for humanity from different backgrounds and tradition working together for the outreach of prisoners, ex-prisoners, crime victims and their families. With headquarters in Washington they promote restorative justice by trying to bring about reconciliation between victims and offenders. |
